Murphy’s Music Center is a well-known Dallas, Fort Worth based instrument retailer of guitars, amplifiers, keyboards, drums, sound reinforcement, studio recording systems and equipment, lighting, accessories, as well as repairs, setups and lessons. Located in Irving, Texas

Founded in 1969, Vince Murphy opened Murphy’s Music as a piano and organ retail store. An authorized dealer of Story & Clark organs and pianos, Vince and his family began business. Opportunity rose to move the store to Irving Mall in April of 1970 to partner with Jack White Music. Two years later Murphy’s Music had acquired the majority of Jack White Music and continued business for another 13 years in that location.

At an early age Vince began to instill a love for music and the business in his two sons Vincent and Mike. The brothers grew up in the store, helping their father, and inevitably selling their way into everyone’s hearts.

In 1982, towards the end of the lease at the Irving Mall, Buzzy became more of a decision maker, with his father Vince, taking a lighter role in the business. Four years later, Mike entered into a more prominent role with his brother as well. The brothers worked hard to continue the business their father had built and given to them. Murphy’s Music had another location change next to Target while continuing to grow and serve their customers for 11 more years there.

In 1994 the Murphy brothers moved the store to its current location at 940 West Airport Freeway. Murphy’s saw great success throughout the 90′s and had two expansions in the store in 1999 and again in November of 2006.

Present Day Murphy’s Music is run by the Murphy brothers, Vincent (Buzzy), and Mike Murphy. Murphy’s Music boasts a 9500 square foot store with a wide variety of name brand instruments ranging from beginner to expert level. They have grown from their humble roots to provide their customers with full PA installments, video equipment, a drum department, a full line of recording equipment, over 400 guitars in stock and much more! Murphy’s Music strives to be a part of its community, working with organizations such as KLTY and Celebrate Freedom. In recent news Murphy’s Music has striven to become more online oriented, growing business outside just the brick and mortar store. The Murphy brothers have no intentions of slowing down in the pursuit of customer satisfaction, and are dedicated to making their customers feel at home when in the store.
